Surprising Reaction

A few days ago I cleaned up my post on “That State of Self-Publishing” and re–posted it on the discussion boards of several groups on LinkedIn. Surprisingly, the comments have been mixed. About half the comments have agreed with me that a few bad books puts a stigma on the rest of the small and self-publishing community. But the other half basically consider me a whiner who downloaded some free books and was surprised when the quality of these books was crap. Well guess what? I was surprised. I thought authors actually cared what they published. Apparently I was mistaken. Some comments have actually said that nobody looks at or cares who publishes a book. This may be true online. But I’m trying to get my book onto store shelves. And bookstores do care.
