I’ve been trying not to do these Progress or Update Posts. I’m sure you were all getting sick of hearing the same thing over and over, “Work is progressing” or “Things are moving along.” I can definitely understand that. But this update is significant, at least it is to me. And I’ll keep it short.
I just finished writing Chapter 7. I know, big whoop. But I’m writing every day (It’s Sunday for crying out loud!), which is something I never used to do. It’s becoming habit. And I’m getting into the meat of the story. These two things make the writing process a whole lot easier. I’ll be the first to admit writing has been going slower than expected. But now I’m in the zone. I still expect a 2012 release date.
Authors write books for two reasons; to have their work read and to make money. Actually, the two are intertwined. To have their work read authors have to sell books. Amanda Hocking and John Locke (And I’m sure several others) have achieved major success by pricing their ebooks dirt cheap. I mean DIRT CHEAP! Both authors have relied on impulse buyers to sell their books. I’m not sure about Ms. Hocking, but John Locke also had a brilliant marketing plan. I’m currently working on a marketing plan (based on Locke’s plan). Marketing has been the bane of my existence when it comes to my book. But I’m trying.
Long story short, I’ve decided to try the dirt cheap/impulse buyer method and slash the ebook price of The Staff of Rahgorra to just $0.99. Do I believe my book is worth more? Hell yes! And I hope you do too. I hope you, the reader, believe you got an awesome, fun read for a steal. And once my marketing plan comes together sales should shoot through the roof! Here’s the link to ANY ebook format for The Staff of Rahgorra. But HURRY!!! This super low price point is only an experiment and it only lasts through Labor Day!
Hi everybody! I Just wanted to let you all know that the third section of The Staff of Rahgorra Databank, Worlds and Star Systems, has just been posted. So now you can read about the Characters, Species and Worlds and Star Systems of the novel. More updates are coming, including the sections on Ships, Nations and Organizations. Plus I’ll be adding to the existing sections and updating the Databank for the sequel, Resistance and Rebellion.
It’s hard to believe the Ferris Bueller’s Day Off came out 25 years ago today. I was 15 when it hit theaters and that movie came to define my teenage years. I was pretty much a dork in high school, so I identified more with Cameron and came to idolize Ferris. I’ve seen a couple “Where are they now?” articles on the web this morning. The cast are all doing their own things and they have clearly aged 25 years. But somehow I didn’t think I had? I mean, I’m the same person I was 25 years ago. Right? Sure I’m more experienced and at least a little more responsible. And I’m bald and the little hair I have is starting to go gray. But my views, my attitudes are the same. Aren’t they? And then I realized that they weren’t. Age, experience and responsibility have brought on a not-so-subtle shift in who I am. And now I feel old! I know 40 isn’t old by most people’s standards but clearly I’m not a teenager anymore. And this realization has lead me to one, single conclusion…
Stay the hell away from “Where are they now?” articles! No good can come from them.
For a limited time (how limited, I’m not sure) I’m offering a FREE COPY of The Staff of Rahgorra in any ebook format to anyone who agrees to send me an HONEST review of the novel and post it anywhere they can, blog, Facebook, Goodreads, etc. Please email me at email@example.com for the code.
Just a short post to let everyone know that the 1st section of The Staff of Rahgorra Databank, Characters, is now up and running at the Conquer Publishing website. Section #2, Species, should be up in the next couple days.
Over the last 8 months or so I’ve been gathering How-To guides, articles and blog posts on marketing a book. I converted everything to PDFs and saved it all to my laptop. But I never opened any of the files. Well, now I’m finally reading through everything. I’m learning a lot and I still have a lot to go through. Anyway, between my job search, the reading and trying to work on Resistance and Rebellion, I’m gathering new content for the Conquer Publishing website.
In the weeks to come look for character bios, species descriptions, ship descriptions and affiliations, and descriptions of the different worlds, organizations and nations of The Staff of Rahgorra galaxy. Once the website is fully updated (which I’ll do in stages) I’ll be able to implement the rest of the new marketing plan.
